Republic Qualifies Two Golfers for State

Republic finished tied for third place in the District 8, Class 2 Golf Tournament Monday at Horton Smith Golf Course in Springfield. Junior Payton Rayl finished second overall, with a 77. Freshman Allison Quigley shot an 86 — a personal best — to place eighth. Both qualified for the state tournament later this month.

This is the third straight year for Rayl to qualify for state. She finished one stroke behind district winner Meg Alumno. Rayl has finished among the top four in every tournament this season. She won the Fremont Hills Tournament.

Other Republic golfers competing at district were sophomore Alexis Edwards (98), freshman Alice Heinzler (99), and senior Lindsay Mansker (103).

The State Tournament will be at Fremont Hills in Ozark on Oct. 19th and 20th.
