Volleyball Reaches 4 Finals in 4 Tournaments

Posted on 17 October 2009

It was a big day for the Republic volleyball program, with two tournament championships and two runner-up finishes.

The varsity team took second place at the Ozark Classic, losing to Ozark in the finals, 21-25 15-25. Before their loss, the Lady Tigers had beaten Monett (25-19 25-15), West Plains (25-19 25-14), and Winona (25-15 25-18) in pool play. They had knocked off Marshfield (25-20 25-15) in the semifinals.

The JV team was also a runner-up in its tournament at Kickapoo. They finished 5-1 in the round-robin format. Their only loss was a close three-game match against Nixa, the tournament champion.

The junior high teams both won the COC championship. The 8th graders handed Ozark its first loss of the season in the finals, winning in three games, 20-25 25-19 25-20. And the 7th graders won their conference title, too — beating Nixa in the final match.
