The varsity cheerleaders will compete at the state competition in Columbia Saturday. Republic’s squad qualified with a 2nd-place finish at the State Regional Competition August 8th at Willard. They’re one of 16 teams competing in the 4A small squad division.
Teams compete in the areas of tumbling, motions, formations, voices, crowd appeal, jumps, synchronization and overall effectiveness. Bonus points are awarded for advanced stunts, and in other areas.
Republic will compete just after 11:00 Saturday morning. I’ll post results as soon as I get them.
