Friend Takes 6th in State High Jump

Posted on 29 May 2010

686Republic’s Sharla Friend finished 6th in the high jump competition at the state track meet in Jefferson City, with a jump of 5’2″.  Morgan Whitson of Moberly won the Class 3 high jump title, clearing 5’7″. That was a half-inch short of the state record, set in 2000 by Vallory Summa of Smithville.

The other Lady Tiger who qualified for state was Alex Botkin, in the 300-meter hurdles. She didn’t get to participate because of an injury.

Update: Her 6th-place finish gives Sharla Friend all-state honors for the 2nd straight year.
