Lady Tigers Open New Ballpark in Style

The Republic Lady Tigers left no doubt about who’s in charge at their new ballpark. Republic scored in every inning, and destroyed Monett 16-1 in their inaugural game at the new park.

Every starter got at least one base hit for the Lady Tigers. They were led by Amanda Snider, who slugged the first-ever home run in the new park. She was 2-for-3 with 5 runs batted in. Payton Appleberry was 3-for-4. Carlie Campbell, Stephanie Eckhoff, Rachael Michaelis, Lakin Ramsey and Bre Hemphill all had two hits apiece.

The Lady Tigers fell behind 1-0 on an unearned run in the top of the 1st, but bounced back with 4 in the bottom of the inning. Republic scored 6 runs in the 2nd, 2 more in the 3rd, and 4 in the 4th.

The 1st-inning unearned run was the only one Eckhoff would allow all night. She pitched a 4-inning complete game, striking out six.

The win improves Republic’s record to 3-0. Monett suffered its first loss, and falls to 4-1.

The Republic JV team also won, 2-1.

After the games, I caught up to Coach Mike Thorne to talk to him about the big night. You can click play to listen below.
