Keck’s 7th-Inning Single Sparks Lady Tigers

The Lady Tigers softball team scored a run in the top of the 7th inning to beat Carthage 7-6 Thursday. Logan Keck singled home Carlie Campbell with the go-ahead run and Republic held on in the bottom of the 7th to win.

The teams had traded the lead back and forth throughout the game. Republic jumped on top 1-0 with a run in the top of the first, but Carthage tied it in the bottom of the inning, then took a 2-1 lead in the second. Republic answered with two in the top of the third, and led 6-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth.

But Carthage scored a single run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to tie the game 6-6, before Republic’s run in the 7th clinched the win.

Keck, Campbell, Payton Appleberry, Brooke Dutton, Bre Hemphill, Logan Keck, Lakin Ramsey, Amanda Snider all had hits in the victory.

The Lady Tigers improve to 14-5 overall, 4-3 in the COC. Carthage is 12-6 and 3-3.
