Three Tigers Headed to State Track Meet

The Republic Tigers will send three athletes to the state track and field championship in Jefferson City.  Two of them, senior Clarissa Watkins and freshman Ryan Way, will compete in two events.  Sarah Kreul also qualified for state with her performance at the sectional meet in Marshfield Saturday.

Watkins qualified in the 100-meter dash, finishing second at sectionals with a time of 12.89 seconds.  She also finished second in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 26.49 seconds.

Freshman Ryan Way will also compete in two events.  Way was the sectional champion in the 32-hundred-meter run, with a time of 10:14.56. He also finished fourth to quality in the 1600-meter run. His time in that event was 4:39.77.

Sophomore Sarah Kreul qualified in the girls discus, with a throw of 106’5″.  That gave her fourth place, and a spot at the state meet.
