Lady Tigers Dominate Nixa Tournament

The Republic Lady Tigers outscored their three opponent by a combined score of 37-3, winning the Nixa Invitational Tournament for the first time Saturday. They closed out the day with an 11-2 rout of their host, Nixa.

Republic opened the day with an 8-0 shutout over Walnut Grove. Stephanie Eckhoff struck out five and walked one to earn the shutout victory. Rachael Michaelis had two doubles and two runs batted in, and Eckhoff also added two hits, including a double.

In the second game, freshman Cheyenne Roberts pitched a three-inning no-hitter as the Lady Tigers blew out Parkview 18-1. Roberts struck out four and walked one. Republic scored 13 runs in the first inning. Allie Inlow hit a grand slam for the Lady Tigers. Brooke Dutton had two hits and three RBIs; Amanda Snider and Alex Wilkshire added two hits and two RBIs apiece.

In the finals against Nixa, Eckhoff pitched again, striking out four and walking none. Payton Appleberry slugged her second homer of the year, and had three hits in the game. Stephanie Eckhoff, Brooke Dutton, and Bre Hemphill each added two hits for the Lady Tigers.

Republic is back at home Tuesday at 5pm, when they play Nixa again in a COC matchup.
