Fisher In Line to Coach Tigers

FisherMissouri State University Director of Basketball Operations Trevyor Fisher is in line to become the new boys head basketball coach in Republic, if the school board approves. The school board is expected to vote on Fisher’s pending hiring Monday night.

Fisher has been director of basketball operations at MSU for seven years. He played for the Bears under Barry Hinson, and graduated in 2005. Before that, he played basketball for Greenwood.

Pending board approval, Fisher will replace Gary Stanfield, who coached Republic for the past four years. Stanfield stepped down after the Tigers’ district loss to end last season. He led the Tigers to a Final Four appearance in 2010.

Fisher will inherit a team stocked with experience. Republic graduated only two seniors–Nick Yocum and Payton Looney–from last season’s 21-6 squad.
