Republic stayed close to a powerful Nixa team for a while, but eventually fell on the road 5-2.
Nixa jumped ahead 1-0 about five minutes into the game. Sara Marcotte evened the score for Republic with 24 minutes left in the first half.
After the teams stayed tied for about 10 minutes, Nixa scored two more goals two minutes, jumping ahead 3-1. Another score made if 4-1 Eagles, and that’s the way it stayed until halftime.
Republic tried to get back in the game with about 20 minutes left in the second half, when Marcotte scored her second goal. But 15 seconds later, Nixa answered with a goal of its own, giving them a 5-2 lead, and that was the final score.
Nixa improves to 16-1. Republic falls to 12-7.
