Tennis  Varsity vs Joplin  DistrictsThe Lady Tigers tennis team made it two straight district championships with a decisive victory over Joplin Wednesday night. Republic won five of six singles matches to clinch the district title.

Samantha Minor (6-4 6-3), Ta’lor Sandul (6-1 6-1) and Michaela Moore (7-5 6-0) were the first Lady Tigers to pick up singles victories. Ashley Cameron followed shortly after that with a 7-6 (7-1) 6-4 victory. Meagan McCord, fighting through an injured shoulder, dropped her singles match 4-6 3-6.

The longest match of the night ended up being the clincher. Danielle Hopkins fought long after dark before finally winner her match in three sets to clinch the championship, 7-6 (7-5) 4-6 6-2.

Joplin won the only doubles match of the night, over Minor and McCord. The other two doubles matches were not played because Republic clinched with its five singles wins.

The Lady Tigers are back in action for the individual district tournament at Republic all day Thursday.
