Republic Special Olympics Picks Up Two Hoops Wins

The two Republic Special Olympics basketball teams — the Flashdrives and the Lil Flashdrives — were in action this weekend. Each team won its opener before losing its second game.

In the first game of the day, the high schoolers won 21-16. Alex Ferrell led the way with 10 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Kirk Cottrell had five points. Kyle Akin had 10 steals to go along with two boards and two rebounds.

The younger team, the Lil Flashdrives, won 22-6 behind Samuel Ard’s eight points. McKay Geromini and Jayle Jennings added four points each. Dustin Schwind had two.

In the second game, the Flashdrives lost to Springfield 39-16. The Little Flashdrives lost to Nevada 34-24.
