Republic’s Baylee Rayl is just four shots off the lead at the state Class 2 golf tournament in New Bloomfield. Rayl and the rest of the field battled difficult conditions, with temperatures in the 40s and 15 mile-an-hour winds early in the day.
Rayl’s score of 80 puts her in a tie for 9th place overall heading into the second day of the tournament tomorrow. Sun Young Jung of Springfield Glendale and Emily Jan Goldenstein of Parkway West are co-leaders at 76.
Bailey Cornelison, the second Republic golfer to qualify for state, had a difficult day, shooting a 110.
