Baylee Rayl, Bailey Cornelison, and Haley Smith all earned a place in sectionals with strong performances at the district golf tournament in Harrisonville Tuesday.
With the wind gusting up to 30 miles an hour at Hoot’s Hollow Golf Course, Rayl led the way with a season-best round of 5-over par 77 to take second place overall. Coach Curt Plotner says Rayl’s success was “anchored by her short game. She was very effective on the greens today.”
Cornelison shot a 96 to advance, with what Plotner calls her “best ball striking round of the season. She played very solid on the back nine and was able to overcome some putting miscues on the front nine.”
Haley Smith shot a 98 to join Cornelison and Rayl at sectionals. “Haley continued to be steady as she has been all season for us.”
Sectionals are scheduled for Monday. Tee times haven’t been set yet.
