Five minutes into the game, Julio Quezada beat the Hillcrest defense and crossed the goal left to right into the back of the net. Just a minute later, Jacob Goetz hooked a booming shot in from 35 yards out to make it 2-0, and the rout was on.

The Tigers went on to a 10-0 victory on the road against an overmatched Hillcrest squad. It was a quick turnaround and recovery for the Tigers, who had lost badly to Carthage earlier in the week.

“Carthage absolutely crushed us. They’re a very good team, and I think they had a very good night. We did some things that made them look good,” says coach Mike Hines. “Take that game out, and we’re playing well.”

Hines says after the loss to Carthage, his team moved the ball better against Hillcrest, and communicated better as well.

“They’re motivated tonight,” Hines says. “They knew they didn’t play particularly well Tuesday, and we’ve got to get back to the basics, and that’s what we talked about yesterday.”
