Republic soccer senior Ashley Bandfield has been part of the Lady Tigers’ program since the beginning. Now she’ll move on to be part of another one.
Bandfield has signed to play college soccer at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri. Coach Mike Hines says her work ethic is part of what got her this far.
“It’s really a wonderful thing to see. Ashley’s been with the program since day one,” Hines says. “She always shows up early. She’s never a discipline problem. Her grades are always great.
“I think it’s a testament that if you show up, work hard, commit yourself, that good things can happen. I think Culver-Stockton is going to be an excellent fit.”
Bandfield will join a Culver-Stockton team that went 8-9-1 last season. They compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conferece.
“I’m definitely looking forward to a higher level of play, and playing with more experienced players,” says Bandfield. “I’m looking forward to playing on the college level, and seeing how I can be successful on my own.
“I’m a little bit nervous. I’m going to be an incoming freshman again,” she says. “It’s going to be interesting getting to know some new faces, but I’m kind of excited about it, too.”
