Lady Tigers Dominate in COC Opener

The Republic Lady Tigers put together what was probably their best all-around performance of the season in an 8-0 blowout victory over Carthage to open Central Ozark Conference play at home Tuesday. The Lady Tigers jumped on top 5 1/2 minutes into the game, and never looked back, keeping the ball on the offensive end of the field for most of the night.

Republic’s first two scores came from Sierra Casagrand, who scored off a rebound at 34:30, then got in the scorebook again at 27:00 with an assist from Sara Marcotte. The Lady Tigers made it 3-0 when Morgan Cantrell scored on a corner kick from Emily Jordan. Jordan assisted on the next goal by Marcotte with 12:00 left in the half to make it 4-0. Marcotte scored again at 8:30 to give Republic a five-goal lead. And it was 6-0 after Lesleigh Fenton boomed a 40-yard free kick into the top of the net over the outstretched arms of the Carthage goalkeeper.

In the 2nd half, Marcotte completed her hat trick with a score on a penalty kick to make it 7-0. Fenton scored again to complete the scoring.

Republic improves to 6-1 overall, 1-0 in conference play. They’ll compete in the Ozark Shootout over the weekend.
