Lady Tigers Fall Short at Glendale

The Lady Tigers’ soccer team saw its short two-game winning streak come to an end Friday — but had to feel good about the way it played anyway. Republic pressed Springfield Glendale until late in the 2nd half before ultimately falling 3-1 to the team considered by many to be the best in the area. Glendale had beaten state-ranked Nixa earlier in the season 1-0.

Republic stayed even with Glendale for the first 30 minutes of play, but the Lady Falcons got on the board twice in a four-minute span before halftime to lead it 2-0 at the break.

Republic broke back within a goal when Lesleigh Fenton scored at the 12:56 mark in the 2nd half. It was the first time anyone had scored on Glendale all-state goalkeeper Kendra Lierz in six games. Lierz is headed to Southeast Missouri State to play soccer next year.

A late goal by Glendale accounted for the final score of 3-1.

The Lady Tigers try to rebound at Branson Tuesday night.
