The Republic Lady Tigers wasted no time showing their offensive potential during Saturday’s jamboree. Republic banged out 11 hits, including a home run by catcher Emily Hall, in a 13-0 win over Hillcrest in just three innings. Kami Holt doubled to the fence twice in her preseason debut at the varsity level. Caty Eby and Morgan Cantrell also had two hits apiece.

In the second varsity game of the day, Rachel Rook didn’t give up a hit and struck out eight batters in three innings of work, as Republic beat Reeds Spring 6-0. Hall and Holt both tripled for the Lady Tigers, and Molly Zinecker added a double.

“Our nine-hole hitter, Morgan , got two or three hits — line drives — so our lineup, one to nine, is stacked pretty good. When we see better pitching, we’ll see how that works,” says coach Lee Dishman.

Republic opens at home against Hollister on August 26.
