The soccer Tigers gave new coach David Ashby a lot to smile about in their pre-season jamboree. The Tigers beat Aurora, College Heights Christian, and Neosho by a combined score of 11-1.
The only goal of the night came in the first matchup against Aurora, which Republic won 6-1. The Tigers pounded College Heights 4-0, and beat Neosho 1-0.
“I’m really happy with how well the defense held up,” says Ashby. The Tigers lost two key defenders to graduation, and the back side is a concern for Republic heading into the season.
“They had some shaky moments. We bent but didn’t break,” Ashby says. “That was great to see.”
The Tigers open their season against Monett at home on August 26.
