Lady Tigers Fall Short at Springfield Classic

The Lady Tigers volleyball team split two matches and lost two others at the Springfield Classic Tournament this weekend.

Republic started pool play with a rematch against Kickapoo, a team that had beaten them in three sets earlier in the week. The Chiefs won in two close sets, 24-26 20-25.

Against St. Francis Borgia, Republic dropped the first set 22-25 before rebounding to win the second, 28-26.

In the third match of pool play, Republic and Bixby split, with Bixby winning the first set 25-20 and Republic winning the second 25-21.

In bracket play, Republic ran into a strong Bentonville, Ark., team and lost in two sets, 17-25 13-25.

Republic’s overall record is 1-7-2 this season.
