Mt. Vernon’s Ashley Childers was by far the best golfer on the course at Island Green Thursday, and it was enough to deliver a team victory over Republic. Mt. Vernon’s team score of 187 was three strokes better than Republic’s 190. The difference was Childers, who shot an even par 36 over nine holes. That was 11 strokes better than any of Republic’s golfers, and far better than any of her teammates, too.
Republic got balanced scoring from Caroline and Emma Blanford, who each shot 47. Katie Hamilton and Vanessa Nimmo both shot 48.
Other scores for Republic include a 52 from Alexus Mitchell, a 55 from Madison Beckham, and a 63 from Holly Casagrand.
