Soccer Tigers Throttle Cassville

_MG_0217Jansen McQuerter scored a goal not long after the game started, and from there, the rout was on. Republic jumped ahead 5-0 by halftime and went on to an 8-0 victory at home over Cassville.

The Tigers got two goals apiece from Julio Quezada and Mitchell Heinzler. Hayden Lease also scored, and Matt Hyde scored on a penalty kick in the second half. Republic also scored on an “own goal,” when a Cassville defender accidentally kicked the ball into the net.

“We possessed the ball very, very well the last 20-30 minutes of the first half, and pretty much dominated the second half,” says coach David Ashby. “We moved the ball laterally from both sides very well. It resulted in good, pretty soccer. I was very pleased with that.”
