Republic Hosts Glendale to Open Districts

Republic will host its first-round game in the district football tournament Friday, when Springfield Glendale comes to town. The Tigers are the #3 seed in Class 5 District 5. Glendale is the #6 seed. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

After leading the district standings for most of the season, Republic’s loss to Nixa dropped them to the #3 spot below Nixa and Springfield Parkview. Nixa will have a bye Friday. Parkview will host Branson (#7) and Ozark (#4) will host Springfield Central (#5).

Glendale is 2-7 this season. Their wins game against Springfield Kickapoo (48-47) and Rolla (72-65). Their defense is allowing an average of 49 points a game. Their offense, which is almost entirely through the air, is scoring an average of 33 points a game.

If Republic and Parkview both win, those two teams would meet at JFK Stadium in Springfield the following Friday, October 31.

The district championship game will be played November 7.
