Republic honored its four seniors, then put together a complete performance in a 6-1 win over Webb City on Senior Night Tuesday.

Mitchell Heinzler scored two goals, Julio Quezada added two more, and Tanner Peabody and Jansen McQuerter scored one goal apiece. Republic jumped ahead 5-1 at halftime and cruised in the second half.

Before the game, Republic recognized four seniors: Mitchell Heinzler, Sam Heinzler, Matt Hyde, and Marcus Robinson. Coach David Ashby says those seniors have eased his transition into the head coaching job during his first season at the varsity helm.

“Their attitudes, energy level, everything is great. It makes all the difference in the world when you have players with good attitudes come out and they want to work for you.”

Mitchell Heinzler, the team’s second-leading scorer, has been a key part of the program for several seasons.

“He’s meant a lot to this program. He’s gotten better every year and we definitely wouldn’t be where we are without a player like him,” Ashby says.
