The 2014 state champion Republic Tigers returned to the court Monday — this time for the unveiling of their state championship banner. The Tigers won Republic’s second consecutive state championship last year, beating Jefferson City Helias in triple overtime in the state semifinals, then coming from behind to knock off St. Joseph Lafayette in the finals.

For Republic, it’s the third year in a row that a state championship basketball team has earned a banner. Before the two consecutive boys’ titles, the Lady Tigers won a championship in 2012. The 2010 boys also have a banner hanging from the rafters for their state fourth-place finish.
