The Lady Tigers made 10 three-pointers and hit their free throws down the stretch to seal a 47-46 victory on the road at Lee’s Summit West. Michayla Shanks hit four treys and Micah Mansker hit three for Republic, who completed a two-win road trip to Kansas City.

Shanks had all four of her three pointers in the first half. She says she felt good during the pregame warm-ups.

“I made three in a row and I thought, ‘This is going to be a good game.’ Sometimes it doesn’t carry over to the game and sometimes it does. I’m just glad it did,” Shanks says.

Coach Kris Flood credits his team with staying close despite the fact that they trailed for much of the game.

“Overall, a great team effort today. We stayed close and gave ourselves an opportunity to win the game,” Flood says.

Neither team led by more than five points the entire way. The score was tied 12-12 at the end of the first-quarter. It was 24-24 at halftime. Lee’s Summit West grabbed a three-point lead heading into the final quarter, but for the second day in a row, the Lady Tigers fought back.

Jade Sawyer and Jordan Kabetske made key free throws in the final minute. The Titans had one last chance to tie the game with six seconds left. After a timeout, they threw it in to Dijionae Calloway, who dribbled the length of the floor and made a layup as time expired, accounting for the final 47-46 score.
