With a 10-1 record to start the season, the Lady Tigers soccer team has been very good, but not perfect. And those imperfections were exposed in a 9-1 loss on the road at Ozark Thursday night.

“We’ve been getting away with some mistakes on the field, even when we were winning,” says coach Mike Hines. “We knew those would get exposed when we played a good team, and that’s what happened tonight.”

Republic allowed two goals within the first two minutes of the game and never seriously threatened to get back into the contest. Jocelyn Carpenter scored the only Republic goal near the end of the first half, but that only cut the deficit to 5-1. It was as close as Republic would get the rest of the way.

The loss drops Republic’s record to 10-2. The Lady Tigers try to rebound next Tuesday when they host Greenwood.
