Offense Sputters in Home Loss to Branson

The Tigers managed only three base hits against Branson starting pitcher Ethan Whiteis, losing their second game in a row Thursday at home, 3-0. Whiteis struck out four and walked just one in pitching the complete-game shutout.

Austin Atkins, Ryan Cape, and Jansen McQuerter had the only hits for the Tigers, who fell t0 7-3.

Chandler Coates took the loss, despite striking out eight and walking just one hitter in seven innings of work. He allowed all three Branson runs on nine hits.

The Tigers put a runner in scoring position several times, but never got a runner as far as third base against Whiteis.

Republic will try to snap its two-game losing skid at home Friday night against Mount Vernon.
