Tigers Slug Their Way to Two More Wins

Republic scored a total of 20 runs in two Saturday wins against Aurora and Camdenton. The Tigers knocked off Aurora 11-2 in the early game, then beat Camdenton 9-3 in the afternoon.

Republic trailed 1-0 to the Houn’ Dawgs in the bottom of the 4th when they exploded for eight runs. Gage Morris, Jansen McQuerter, and Regan Butterworth had RBI hits during the rally.

Butterworth was 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Tigers. McQuerter also had two hits and two RBIs.

Chandler Coates continued his strong start with a complete game, striking out eight and allowing just one earned run on four hits and three walks. Coates improved to 4-1. His earned run average is 0.78.

Tanner Schmidt took the loss for Aurora.

In the afternoon game, Republic plated four runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, breaking a 1-1 tie on their way to the win. After Camdenton scored two in the 5th, Republic answered with two more in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Gage Morris and an RBI single by Tyler Mackey.  The Tigers added two insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th.

Jake Smith walked, doubled, and tripled, and scored two runs for the Tigers. Gage Morris drove in two runs.

The wins improve Republic’s record to 7-1. The Tigers travel to Ozark for a Central Ozark Conference matchup Tuesday.
