Republic dominated its matches at the top of the lineup and showed it could win close matches lower in the lineup, as the tennis Tigers shut out Reeds Spring 9-0. It was the first time in program history that Republic has swept Reeds Spring.

Michael Nacy won his singles match 8-0 and paired with Bradley Hendrix to win doubles 8-1. Hendrix dropped only two games in his singles victory over Nick Smugla.

Gabe Bandfield won his singles match in the #3 spot, beating Scott Mueller 8-5. At the #4 spot, Jacob Overturf fell behind 4-0, but stormed back to defeat Harley Caudill 8-6. Bandfield and Overturf also won their doubles match 8-6.

In the #5 singles, Dylan Mackey used his mobility and quickness to grab an edge over Zach Kneble in a match that featured several long rallies. Mackey won 8-4.

Austin Massey also won his singles match in the #6 spot, 8-4 over former Republic tennis player Dylan Harris.

The Tigers will play next in the Waynesville Tournament, which has been pushed from its scheduled time Friday to Saturday because of concerns about severe weather. The next varsity dual is April 30 against both Neosho and Ozark, in Republic. Start time is 1:00, and Republic’s lone senior, Jacob Overturf, will be honored that evening.
