Brooke Stanfield and Jerney Jones led the way for Republic, as seven Tigers and four Lady Tigers advanced to sectionals with top-four finishes at the district meet in Carl Junction Saturday. Both Stanfield and Jones qualified in four different events.
Stanfield, competing with a heavily wrapped left thigh, still managed to win the high jump and qualify in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She also anchored the 4×100 relay team that advanced to sectionals by finishing second. That team also included Autumn Garner, Haven Lander, and Molly Zinecker.
Haven Lander also moves into sectionals in pole vault. She advanced by clearing 11’0″, tying her personal record.
Jones was the district champion in the long jump, with a leap of 21′ 10 3/4″. He also qualified in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and was on the 4×100 relay team that advanced, along with teammates Jake Jones, Jace Duvall, and Tryston Ellison.
Ellison qualified in the 100-meter dash, as well.
The boys 4×400 relay team of David Feil, Thomas Brewer, Jace Duvall, and Colton Mease advanced with a 4th place finish.
