Tiger Bats Go Cold in Regular-Season Finale

Republic managed only three hits against Glendale starter Austin Huff in a 3-0 loss to wrap up their regular season schedule Wednesday. Huff struck out six and walked no one in a complete-game shutout. Jansen McQuerter took the loss, allowing three runs in six innings. He allowed five hits, walked two, and struck out two.

Glendale scored a run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead, then two more in the sixth.

Republic threatened in the third and fourth innings, putting two runners on base in each inning, but failed to break through. Parker Nelson left the game after being hit by a pitch leading off the fourth, but he was checked out and is expected to be okay.

Republic ends the regular season with a 12-9 record. They begin district play next week at Carthage.
