Glendale Too Much for Lady Tigers

The night looked promising for the Lady Tigers volleyball team when the freshman and JV squads both beat Glendale on its home court in three sets. But the varsity match was a different story.

Glendale jumped ahead early and Republic mounted an occasional challenge, but was never able to gather much steam in a straight-set loss Tuesday, 25-10 25-16.

In the first set, Glendale scored the opening four points and eventually jumped ahead 7-1 before Republic closed the gap with a run of its own, making the score 8-5. A 7-0 run later in the set put the game out of reach for the Falcons.

The Lady Tigers took a brief lead early in the second set, but Glendale quickly regained control and put the match away.

Brooke Stanfield had seven kills for Republic. All Wright led the team with seven digs, and Lynn Kreul had 12 assists.

Republic falls to 1-3. Their home opener is on September 8th against Kickapoo.

JV: 25-18 Republic, 17-25 Glendale, 25-20 Republic
Freshman: 21-25 Glendale, 25-18 Republic, 25-18 Republic
