The Republic golf team got its usual performance from Katie Hamilton. They also got a breakout performance from Alexus Mitchell at the Willard Ladies Invitational Thursday. Hamilton and Mitchell both shot a 92, tying for ninth place overall. Even though Mitchell was playing with the Republic JV squad (and her total didn’t count toward the varsity score), Republic’s varsity squad still finished 5th out of 20 teams.
Madison Beckham was the only other Lady Tiger to finish under 100, shooting a 97.
Coach Curt Plotner says Mitchell’s performance, and her recent improvement, is good news for the Lady Tigers as the post-season approaches.
“She has scored well the last two days and will only add to our team success if she continues to play that well,” he says.
Republic plays at Carthage next Monday in a tune-up for the Central Ozark Conference Tournament.
