Republic Crushes Carl Junction on the Courts

The Lady Tigers tennis team won its fifth match of the young season with a convincing 7-2 decision over Carl Junction at Joplin Tennis Complex Thursday night. After establishing control with a sweep of doubles play, Republic won four of six singles matches to put things away.

Kaitlyn Snyder and Heather Georges won their doubles match decisively, 8-2. Macie Thornhill and Molly Womack won their match 8-4. Brittany Thompson and Makenzie Clark needed an extra game, but held on for a 9-7 doubles victory.

In singles play, it was two convincing victories at the bottom of the lineup–Avery in the number-five position and Womack at number six–that sealed the win. Both won their singles matches 8-1.

The Republic JV won 17-6.

Republic improves to 5-2 at the varsity level this season. The Lady Tigers are back in action next Tuesday against Ozark and Neosho.
