Tigers Hit the Hardwood in Jamboree (with Photos)

Republic participated in a pre-season jamboree against Nixa, Parkview, and Rogersville Tuesday night. Below is a photo gallery, along with comments from coach Trevyor Fisher on his team’s performance.

Trevyor Fisher on what he’s looking for out of the  jamboree:

“You just want to see how your guys react to a game-like situation. Obviously, it’s not a real game, but it’s the best thing for preparation and practice.”

On his team’s rebounding against larger opponents:

“Early on in the Nixa game, maybe the first 2-3 possessions we gave up offensive rebounds. But after that, for the most part we’ve done a good job of finding a body and trying to drive guys away from the basket. With our lack of size, sometimes that’s not good enough and guys still get the rebound. But as long as we put forth the effort every time, going to find a body, I think we’ll be all right.”

On the defensive pressure the Tigers are able to apply:

“We’re moving around pretty good. The interchangeable parts–that allows us to be more flexible and allows some different guys to guard things. We can switch screens a little more than we have in the past. We can do different things to try to speed people up. We’ll continue to work at it. We still have a long ways to go.”
