Special Olympians Compete at State Indoor Games

The Special Olympics State Indoor Games were held in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri on Friday March 18th through Sunday March 20th. We had athletes competing in both basketball and bowling. Our athletes did a great job, worked hard and tried their best during the competitions and were able to come away with a lot of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to finish the weekend.

The results are listed below.

Basketball

5-on-5 Regulation rules Unified Basketball
Republic High School Tigers came away with a Bronze medal, playing well in both games. In Game one, the Tigers lost 31-12 to the Oak Grove Panthers. The Tigers were led in scoring by Senior Kyle Akin who finished with 6 points, and 5 steals. Senior Eric Akin contributed 4 points and 3 rebounds. While Kaden Hill finished with 2 points and 5 rebounds and Madison Ard grabbed 7 rebounds in the loss.Team stats for game one for the Tigers were 12 points, 19 rebounds and 9 steals.

In Game two, the Tigers lost a fast-paced, back and forth game to the White Bulldogs out of Carl Junction. The Tigers were led in scoring by Kyle Akin with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 steals. Larissa Williams and Madison Ard lead the team in rebounding with 8 a piece. Williams also added 6 points. Kaden Hill netted 4 points while Madison Ard and Eric each finished with 2 points respectively. The team stats for game two for the Tigers were 26 points, 29 rebounds and 7 steals.

Republic Tigers Lil A team won their first game beating Warrenton White 14-6.

In game two, the Lil Tigers A fell to Park Hill 18-8. Leading scorers in game two were Samuel Ard and Kaya McClintock with 4 points a piece. Lil Tigers A captured a Silver medal.

5-on-5 Modified Rules Basketball
Lil Tigers B played hard and had the following individuals net baskets on the day. Kali Foster, Nikki Williams, Kaden Coatney, Desirae Long, Tyler Wells, and Eric Whillock. The Lil Tigers B team earned a 4th place Ribbon.
