Republic allowed three unearned runs in a 7-4 loss on the road at Willard Thursday night. Willard jumped on top 3-0 after one inning and led 5-1 after two. They held off a late Republic rally to complete the victory.
Jansen McQuerter was 4-for-4 with two doubles to lead the Tigers offensively. Ryan Cape, Regan Butterworth, and Josh Gentry each had single hits for the Tigers as well.
Josh Gentry started on the mound for the Tiers. He pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on seven hits and four walks. Gentry struck out three.
Cameron Beck pitched 2/3 of an inning and didn’t allow a baserunner.
Republic falls to 6-8 overall. They’ve lost two straight and three of their last four. The Tigers travel to Bolivar tomorrow night.
