Lady Tigers Hang Tough in Loss at Nixa

Two late goals by Nixa helped the Lady Eagles pull away from Republic for a 3-0 win in Nixa Tuesday night. Republic trailed just 1-0 at halftime, but the Lady Tigers weren’t able to connect on their infrequent opportunities before Nixa put the game out of reach.

“I really thought we came out with good intensity tonight,” says coach Kevin Hauck. “I was proud of the girls all over the field. We were battling. We won a lot of 50/50s. The defense held great for a majority of the game.”

Republic had shut out two consecutive opponents after losing to Ozark 6-0 last week. Compared to the Ozark loss, Hauck says his Lady Tigers played much better Tuesday.

“We were finding some good passes. We were just maybe one pass behind or were off a little bit here or there to be able to finish in our attack,” he says. “Overall, I thought it was a really good improvement.

“I told the girls I feel like good things are ahead for us in this season, and I really believe it. I think if we continue to improve like we are, we can make something happen at the end of this year.”

The Lady Tigers fall to 8-6 with the loss. They’re home against Bolivar on Thursday.
