Twelve Republic athletes competed at track sectionals at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar Saturday. Seven of them moved on to state.
Haven Lander led Republic by qualifying in three events: two relays and the pole vault. Jerney Jones won the long jump for Republic’s only 1st place finish of the day.
All of Republic’s results are listed below. Finishers in the top four advance to state in Jefferson City next weekend.
Long Jump
Freshman Lauren O’Hara finished 6th with a jump of 15’4″. All four state qualifiers in the event were seniors.
High Jump
Avy Powell-Qualo finished 6th in the high jump with a height of 4’8″.
Discus
Jack Hayes finished 5th in the discus with a throw of 136’8″.
100m Hurdles
Autumn Garner finishes 7th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.12, a personal best.
100m Dash
Jerney Jones slipped coming out of the blocks and finished 7th in the 100m dash with a time of 11.60.
Avy Powell-Qualo finished 8th in the 100m dash with a time of 13.40.
4x200m Relay
Autumn Garner, Haven Lander, Lauren O’Hara, and Avy Powell-Qualo set a school record with 1:46.64 in the 4×200, 4th place.
Long Jump
Jerney Jones won long jump with a distance of 21′ 9 1/4″.
4x100m Relay
Autumn Garner, Haven Lander, Lauren O’Hara, and Avy Powell-Qualo took 3rd in the 4×100 with a PR of 50.98.
Pole Vault
Haven Lander broke a school record with a jump of 12’0″ to take 2nd. Mariah Stanfield finishes 6th, at 9’9″.
3200m Run
Philip Canfield took 3rd in the 3200m with a time of 9:57.01.
800m Run
Treydon Rackley finished 4th in the 800m run with a time of 1:58.76.
4x400m Relay
Cody Frazier, Kyle Singley, Treydon Rackley, and Thomas Brewer finished 6th in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:37.43.
