Washout: Rainy Afternoon Sinks Tiger Hopes

Through nine holes at the state sectional golf tournament at Rivercut, Republic’s Tristan Ollar had himself in position to keep his season alive. Then came the rain.

After shooting a 40 through his first nine holes, Ollar struggled during a brief stretch of windy, rainy weather around mid-day. Three straight bogeys, followed by a double bogey, ended up making the difference. Ollar finished with an 83 — missing the cut by just one stroke and failing to qualify for the state tournament.

Ollar turned in the best score of three Tigers at Rivercut Monday. Mitch Coiner shot a 95 and Austin Melton shot a 97.

The tournament ends the golf season for the Tigers, who are without a state qualifier for a second season in a row.
