Volleyball Tops Silver Bracket at Branson

The Lady Tigers volleyball team won five of six matches at the Branson Invitational Tournament Saturday, capturing the championship of the silver bracket.

Republic opened the day with pool play against Mount Vernon, Plato, and Lee’s Summit. They beat Mount Vernon (25-17 25-19) and Plato (25-9 25-18), but lost to Lee’s Summit in a hard-fought match (25-27 18-25).

The Lady Tigers advanced to the Silver Bracket, where they lost only one set in three matches. Republic opened the bracket with a 25-14 25-11 win over Eldorado Springs. They followed it up with a three-set win over Mount Vernon (25-12 23-25 25-12) in the semifinals. In the bracket championship match, Republic knocked off Rockwood Summit 25-17 25-18.

Republic’s record is now 5-2. The Lady Tigers host Pittsburg, Kansas, on Monday.
