Another Tournament Trips Up Lady Tigers

The Lady Tigers have six losses this season. All six have come in weekend tournaments. The latest lost weekend came in the Crackerjack Shack Springfield Invitational, where Republic won two games and lost three. The losses were the first for the Lady Tigers since they went 2-3 at a tournament in Oklahoma several weeks ago.

Republic opened the tournament with a 5-3 loss to Cassville, then dropped an 8-3 decision to West Plains on Friday. On Saturday, the Lady Tigers beat Aurora 12-2, lost to Jefferson City Helias in a heartbreaker, 3-2, then beat Walnut Grove 8-2.

Kami Holt had a monster weekend. She was 11-for-15 with three home runs, a triple, and a double. Ally Stolte also homered twice.

For the first time in several weeks, Rachel Rook looked hittable. She was 1-3, allowing 10 earned runs in 25 2/3 innings. That’s still a solid earned run average of 2.73, and she struck out 43 batters in four starts and one relief appearance.

Republic falls to 16-6 this season. They’re 4-6 in tournaments and 12-0 in other games on their schedule.

The Lady Tigers have three regular-season games remaining. They’re at Willard Tuesday, when they can wrap up another outright Central Ozark Conference championship with a win. They also travel to McDonald County Thursday and Rogersville a week from Monday.
