Tigers Pick Up COC Soccer Win

Dylan Brown scored two more goals and the defense fought off Branson down the stretch as the Tigers picked up a 2-1 win over the Pirates on the road Tuesday night. Brown scored his first goal to help Republic break on top in the first half, but Branson answered back about five minutes later to tie the score at 1-1. That’s where it stood at halftime.

Early in the second half, Brown got free for his second goal, scoring what would be the game-winner. The Tigers had chances later in the game, including one attack that ended with Julio Quezada hitting the crossbar, but could never put the game away.

In the final five minutes, Branson had its best chance to score. The Pirates dumped the ball into the box and Republic keeper Cody Marcotte deflected a shot and went to the ground. The Tiger goal was briefly undefended, but Republic managed to clear the ball before Branson could score the equalizer.

Republic is now 4-1 overall. They’re 1-1 in the conference. Their next game is at home against Willard.

The JV Tigers lost 2-0, falling to 3-2.
