It wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t always pretty — but Republic’s Katie Hamilton did enough to book a return trip to the state golf tournament. Hamilton shot an 87, just good enough to make the cut at the sectional tournament in Carl Junction. She started with a 45 on the back nine, and followed it up with a 42 to claim her spot at the state tournament.
Republic’s other two competitors, Alexus Mitchell and Madison Beckham, failed to make the cut, ending their seasons.
Hamilton beat the cut by one stroke. She gets a fresh scorecard when she advances to play in the state tournament next week at Columbia Country Club in Columbia.
