Barrett Stays Hot as Lady Tigers Top Aurora

The Lady Tigers scored the first 11 points of the second-quarter on the way to and easy win over Aurora Monday night, 67-29. The game was Republic's first of three this week at the Bolivar Gary Keeling Tournament.

Allyson Barrett scored 17 points to lead the Lady Tigers. Taylor Fergen and Brylee Manes scored 12 points apiece and Megan Branstetter scored 10. Madi Appleberry added six, Halli Bartelsmeyer and Morgan McGuire each scored four, and Madi Beckham had two.

Coach Kris Flood says Barrett has played a big role in the team’s success over the last several games.

“The last…two weeks, she’s really been in a really nice stretch—not just offensively, but also defensively,” Flood says. “A couple of times , she was rotating well and got her hand on the ball. She’s usually right around there for rebounding. We’ve got to have those kids step up and take a little bit off Fergen and Manes. They’re kind of nicked up right now, so we’re trying to keep them healthy.”

Republic led 16-9 after the first quarter. It was 39-18 at halftime and 54-27 after three.

The Lady Tigers improve to 10-6. They'll be back in Bolivar to play Camdenton Wednesday at 7:30.Find out how you can get $25 worth of free photos as a subscriber to Republic Tiger Sports magazine. Sign up now, before this offer runs out!
