Republic’s Julian Richardson and Michael Taylor each won individual championships at the Republic Invitational Saturday, leading the Tigers to a 4th-place team finish.
Taylor defeated Michael Finley of Willard 9-3 to take the title in the 113-pound weight class. Richardson topped Jadyn Withrow of Joplin in overtime to win the championship at 220 pounds.
Three other Tiger wrestlers earned top-three finishes: Deric Woodman placed 2nd (160 lbs.); Hunter Pyle was 3rd (195 lbs.); and Jonathan O’Connell was 2nd (120 lbs.).
Ozark won the overall championship, followed by Willard, Rogersville, and Republic.
