Tigers Complete Perfect Week at Webb

Four Republic varsity basketball games, four wins. That’s a summary of the week for the Tigers and Lady Tigers, after Republic knocked off Webb City Friday night on the road, 65-37.

“I think the 1st half our defense was pretty good for the most part, with the exception of about eight points in transition,” Fisher says. “In the 2nd half, we eliminated their transition and our half-court defense was just as good. Once we get on top, we force people to shoot perimeter shots, and that was more like what we’re accustomed to seeing.

Treydon Rackley scored 20 points and Ty Stevens added 16 to lead Republic, which had knocked off Neosho on the road Tuesday night. The Lady Tigers beat Neosho on Monday and Webb City Thursday to contribute to the 4-0 week.

Friday, it was a big 2nd half that carried Republic to victory. The Tigers outscored the Cardinals 17-5 in the 3rd quarter and 39-17 in the 2nd half to pull away. Mitch Coiner had a big 3rd quarter, making two three-pointers and scoring all eight of his points. Devon Ward picked up where Coiner left off in the 4th quarter, scoring seven points. He finished with 11 for the game.

Republic improves to 15-5, 3-0 in the Central Ozark Conference. The Tigers are home against Branson next Tuesday.
