Carpenter Leads Tigers to JV Tennis Win

The Republic boys tennis program hosted its first JV tournament Friday — and came away with a championship. Branson, Hillcrest, and Carthage finshed second, third, and fourth, respectively.

” a great day of tennis for the Republic JV,” says coach Dan Vales. “Branson always has a strong JV, and Hillcrest brought in several varsity players to fill JV spots- making for a very competitive afternoon of tennis.”

Brett Carpenter was the individual champion, picking up wins over the top two players for Hillcrest on his way to winning the singles bracket.

Kile Thornhill finished 4th in singles, including a big first-round win against one of Branson’s top JV players.

Tyler Ghan and Ryan Cameron won three straight matches to win the doubles bracket. They overcame a 4-3 deficit to win their final match against Branson.

Cameron Doke and Will Berry won two of their three doubles matches, taking fifth in the doubles bracket.

Jack Wright, Jared Zane, and Jack Cook all went undefeated playing in the round-robin doubles bracket.
